pub hopping

So on a surprisingly hopping Monday night I met up with Dave and we proceeded to go on an impromptu pub crawl. Conversation flowed freely as did the pints. Well, pints weren't all free - 4.40Euro ea. Made me remember why when i lived here as a 20yr old i used to have Guinness as a meal replacement... hmm soup or a Guinness?
We started out at the Globe at 11 South Great Georges St. and then to Hogans a few doors south, it's closing time here at 11:30 and what had started out to be a plan to have a few drinks and call it a night turned into bar #3 being a late night bar and one of my old haunts Bruxelles - off Grafton St. (it's in the movie Once - the place with the statue of Phil Lynott from Thin Lizzy where Glen and Marketa meet the other guys who record with them)
It was an interesting experience going back there, I was there A LOT when i lived here 12 years ago. Met a lot of people there that played a big role in my time here. Some good some bad. Isn't the way though.
Upstairs is a traditional pub and downstairs more of a Rock bar - we had a pint upstairs on the patio and then went to rock it up a little and play Space Invaders. Tonight a guy who has been staying at the hostel, Markus Nylund is playing a songwriters circle there so I will go see that.
Anywho, the pub crawl with Dave was a lot of fun. Good to find a friend who loves music as much as I do. He's a Dj so he'd have to non? We're going to go on a tourist bus or something soon and also talked about going to Galway, except i'd have to drive and that may be interesting.
Nothing planned tomorrow except for more house hunting. There is a place in Portobello that I really hope we get. Cross your fingers. It's a great area and sounds like a good place.
Friday is Culture in the City, i think it's comparable to Nuit Blanche in Toronto... all night events going on. Will def. check that out. Saturday is Lisa Hannigan can't wait for that. Bought the album when i got here and am really enjoying it. Eventually i'll have to get my violin over here and tune up to become a fiddle or the like.
Think on Sunday i'll find the movie theatre... Dave was saying that you can buy a 20Euro pass for the month and go see unlimited movies - i'll buy that!
Oh, last night went to Maeve and Brian's for dinner, had some wine and some great veggie wraps - i was pretty knackered from the previous nights activities so didn't stay too late. Nice to see familiar faces. They live in Ranelagh, great area not far from where I'm staying.
k need to eat. forgot again!
: )
